What is the G-Jo Institute?

What is the G-Jo Institute?

The G-Jo (pronounced "Gee-joh") Institute is a natural health educational organization founded in 1976 to research, test and share a variety of "self-health" methods from around the world. Not only is the Institute the largest and oldest organization of its type, to the best of our knowledge, it is the only such group in existence.

The G-Jo Institute is headquartered at DeerHaven Hills Farm, an organic, 100-acre "yoga eco-center" nestled in the foothills of western North Carolina. Our library on natural healing is filled with thousands of volumes, the database includes nearly all the known techniques of "alternative" healing, both ancient and modern. We have contacts worldwide and are continually in search of new or little-known healing methods.

For many thousands of years-- long before there were readily-available doctors--people had to learn for themselves the type of knowledge and skills we teach for healing a variety of ailments, or suffer the consequences. There was no health-care system for them to call upon.

Today, for a number of reasons, many people are interested in becoming more "health self-sufficient," once again. A deteriorating health care system... costly medicines with dangerous side-effects... a growing awareness that "natural may be better"--these are just some of the reasons why more than 35% of Americans have used "alternative medicine" methods in recent years. One important reason is that many of these methods are safe and simple enough to be applied by the sufferer, him- or herself.

Surprisingly, there are not dozens, but literally hundreds of these self-applied methods (many of them Oriental in origin) which are both safe to use, yet remarkably effective... even in the hands of beginners. G-Jo acupressure-- the subject of our Special Report-- is one such method, but there are many others.

The G-Jo Institute has long advocated the combined use of conventional and alternative healing methods, using the simple and less-costly means first, then moving toward more complex methods as those fail to produce satisfactory results. This has proven itself to be a very effective way for the Institute's staff, members and students to stay well and healthy, even in difficult times.
