OUR DIRECTOR'S COMMENTARY:

Over the years, I've had many occasions to use G-Jo Acupressure on myself as well as on members of my family. Friends and students, too, have benefitted from my "gift of touch," at various times.

But every now and then, I've also had the opportunity to even help strangers in their times of pain or other suffering. One of the most dramatic of these situations comes immediately to mind.

My wife and I were driving along a road somewhere between Holland and Belgium in the late 1970's. We were on our way to the Frankfurt Bookfair, the world's largest such show, where we would be exhibiting several of my books.

Ahead of us, we saw a crowd of cars stopped along both sides of the highway and their drivers gathered around something in the center of the thoroughfare. I say "something," since it looked like a piece of modern sculpture, bent and twisted as it was.

But, no: It was a car! We also stopped and trotted over to see if we could help. To our horror and dismay, a woman was trapped inside this mangled mess of steel and plastic!

She looked very pale and weak. She had been crushed against the steering wheel and could not move. To me, she seemed in shock and maybe close to death.

Fortunately, the window had either been rolled down or blown out from the impact of the crash. Almost without thinking, I reached inside the car -- nobody else was doing anything to help this poor woman, though in truth I'm not sure what they could have done, anyway.

I took hold of her wrist.

Though dazed, she glanced up me. I wanted to tell her that I was going to help, but we couldn't communicate. I began to deeply massage the center of her inner, lower forearm, about two inches back from the crease of the wrist -- G-Jo Point #10, which was featured in an earlier edition of this e-newsletter.

This is an important point for relieving both shock and trauma to the chest area, both of which it seemed clear she was suffering. I "triggered" the point deeply for a minute, or so, and watched with satisfaction as the color rose back into her cheeks.

In the distance, we finally heard the sound of sirens, so I released the woman's arm and Gail and I made our way back to our car. But as I was turning to leave, the woman looked up at me, again, and gave me a small smile of appreciation.

Did G-Jo save her life? Possibly -- but I'll never know, because we left before the drama ended.

However, this is a powerful technique and has performed literal miracles of healing for me and our students over the years. Indeed, of all the skills and knowledge I possess, I can truly say that I know of none more valuable than G-Jo Acupressure.

If you'd also like to possess this life-saving power in your own fingertips, it's yours to command as a Master of G-Jo Acupressure. Please visit here for further details; or see our contact details, below.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions):

Q: The G-Jo Institute stresses the importance of a vegetarian diet. But today, many people are concerned about eating too many carbohydrates. A number of diets which are currently fashionable are based on lots of protein, not carbohydrates. So can vegetarians get enough protein? Isn't a vegetarian diet too high in carbohydrates? And don't people with certain blood types need meat more than those with other blood types?

A: Typically, people who tout "high-protein, low-carb" diets are concerned primarily about their weight and appearance, not truly about their over-all health. And for some of those people, even an ounce of bodily fat is thought to be bad, bad, bad -- to them, solid muscle is the ideal for both men and women!

This is not only erroneous, but positively dangerous!

We are certainly not arguing for obesity. But bodily fat serves many vital functions -- indeed, life without it is impossible. And the long-established ideal level (from a health standpoint) is that seven to ten percent of a male's bodily weight should be composed of fat, while a female's should be about 25% fat, especially during her childbearing years.

In fact, people with too LITTLE bodily fat are more prone to developing certain types of cancer, according to articles we have read over the years. So a lean, muscular body is not necessarily synonymous with perfect health.

But what about protein? It is a common misconception that vegetarians suffer from lack of protein or that plant protein somehow isn't "complete." This, too, is totally incorrect. Beans, nuts and legumes are all rich in useful protein.

So a balanced "vegan" (all-vegetable matter) diet can provide more than enough protein (and even vitamin B 12) for almost anyone's needs. Remember: That's WITHOUT the use of eggs or dairy products. And adding a little milk or milk product to the diet on occasion normally provides more than enough nutrients to assure complete balance, if one is worried.

Fact: The vast majority of people throughout history have ALWAYS been either total or nearly total vegetarians ... and they still are, today. For example, non-vegetarian peasants in the East (which outnumber Westerners by a huge majority), might have meat only once a week, once a month or even just once a year!

Instead, modern people -- particularly in the West -- generally eat far too MUCH protein. This puts enormous stress on the kidneys, according to traditional energy medicine theory (which is the basis of acupuncture and G-Jo Acupressure).

Kidney distress can lead to hypertension (high blood pressure) and other physiological disorders. But perhaps even more important, kidneys in distress produce a biochemical imbalance which manifests itself as feelings of fear, suspicion and mistrust -- the basis of hostile, aggressive behavior.

This is according to that same doctrine of energy medicine.

For a person seeking to overcome such feelings and control such actions, the starting place is with a diet that avoids slaughtered food.

Still, some "former vegetarians" with a certain blood type do report they feel better after going back to meat-eating. This may be so, for eating in a healthful vegetarian way requires a little more education than eating "conventionally," especially for those of us raised in the West.

In other words, a vegan diet will healthfully support ALL blood types ... but one might have to do a little research and experimentation to eat in a balanced way for his or her blood type. Bottom line: You can't just eat salads (as many omnivores think that vegetarians do) and expect to live a happy, healthful life.

So what about carbohydrates? There are good (complex) carbohydrates and bad (refined) ones, and they should never be confused. But we'll explain more about The G-Jo Institute's position on that hotly debated topic in an upcoming issue.

Meanwhile, you might want to purchase our Self-Health Report entitled "A WAY OF EATING FOR PLEASURE AND HEALTH," if you're interested in the subject of dynamic nutrition ($24.95 -- contact us, below).

AN INTRODUCTION TO YOUR G-JO POINTS:

G-Jo Acupressure Point Number 15 G-JO

POINT NUMBER 15
Heart 7 (HT-7) / I 7 / "Spirit Gate" (or "Shen Men" or many others -- This translation is taken from "Grasping The Wind," by Andrew Ellis, Nigel Wiseman and Kenn Boss; Paradigm Publications.)

ORGAN(S) THIS POINT AFFECTS: Spleen-pancreas; heart; liver;

ACTION THIS POINT PRODUCES: Stimulating (spleen-pancreas; heart); balancing (heart); sedating (heart; liver).

On the crease of the INNER wrist, in line with the smallest finger. DEEP STIMULATION ON THIS POINT SHOULD BE AVOIDED!

This G-Jo point has many uses. However, it is essentially a "restricted point" -- one of the few points that should only be used in what our Masters of G-Jo Acupressure know as "Type 2" situations. That is, G-Jo point #15 should generally be used only on an limited basis, such as for treating attacks of angina pectoris, asphyxia and other heart- or chest-related symptoms when professional help is not immediately available.

INSTRUCTIONS: To find this point upon yourself, first read the instructions. Then, using the TIP of the thumb, the bent knuckle of the index (or pointer) finger -- even the eraser tip of a pencil -- begin pressing the approximate location upon your own wrist.

Use gentle pressure. Unlike most G-Jo points, which can be "triggered" (deeply massaged) with up to 15 or 20 lbs. of finger pressure, G-Jo #15 is on the so-called "heart meridian" and deep pressure there should be avoided by all but trained acupuncturists. The point itself, once contacted, will feel like a toothache or pinched nerve -- definitely more tender than the surrounding flesh.

Finally, trigger this spot in a gentle yet digging, goading way for a few seconds. Again, it should feel a bit painful. Then find and trigger the same spot on the opposite side of the body. For more complete instructions, go to www.g-jo.com/points.html and take our free "Mini Crash-Course in G-Jo Acupressure."

G-Jo Point #15, and nearly 200 others, are fully illustrated and described in "The Master of G-Jo Acupressure Home-Study Certification Program." Purchase this low-cost, fully guaranteed program now by going here....

Or you can reach us by regular mail or phone, via our contact information at the end of this newsletter.

The G-Jo Institute is approved by The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education provider. The "Master of G-Jo Acupressure Home-Study Certification Program" may qualify in your state for up to five C.E.U's (50 hours of study -- see information and statement below).

KNOW YOUR ORGANS:

HEART (Continued ...)

Like each of the body's 12, major organs and glands, the heart has both physiological as well as psychological and emotional "control functions." The heart is particularly important from a psychological standpoint, in that it is said to be "the supreme governor of thought and rational behavior."

Hence, irrational thoughts or activities are related (at least in part) to the heart, and also to its "spouse," the small intestine. On the other hand, with a healthy heart there is a deep sense of pleasure for being alive. Not just for surviving, but being truly happy to be alive.

The primary emotions of the heart are joy and sorrow. While both these emotions are crucial for its full development and functioning of the human mind, an excess of either -- even joy -- injures the entire being.

For instance, too much joyousness (often a reaction to a prolonged period of anticipation, depression or unhappiness and sorrow), "overflows" from the heart and reflects itself as singing, laughter, etc. We all enjoy a bit of this feeling, certainly.

But after that joyousness passes, one is left in an imbalanced state (breathless, confused, disoriented, etc.). And this outpouring has set the stage for further reaction -- often another bout of depression or sadness.

Watching small childrens' emotions before, during and immediately after Christmas is a good exercise in observing the heart in the kind of imbalance that produces emotional distress:

  • A growing anticipation of the holiday leads to excitement and confusion ...
  • The day, itself, produces strong, mixed emotions ...
  • And the day after sees depression, knowing that it will take a year for Christmas to come, again ...

Another example is laughter. Laughing could be said to overflow from the heart when it is too full of joy and good humor.

But laughter is not always associated with such positive emotions. It can even be associated with sadness, as well. For instance, many doctors have experienced patients who walk into their offices and laughingly discuss obviously serious heart problems from which they are suffering. And there is also "bitter laughter" (both of which -- laughter and bitterness -- are associated with the heart and small intestine).

To be continued ...

All the body's major organs and glands, along with their many functions, are completely described in the Advanced G-Jo section of "The Master of G-Jo Acupressure Home-Study Certification Program." Please contact us for details.
