OUR DIRECTOR'S
COMMENTARY:
I've been relating the story of how a remarkable healing system
-- one used by families throughout the entire East for countless
generations and now known as G-Jo Acupressure -- finally arrived
in the western half of the world. Bottom line: I learned it while
driving around the world with my children in 1972.
You may recall that, upon our returning to America after more
than a year on the road, I began teaching this healing system
in small, off-beat workshops around southern Florida. Finally,
after several years of teaching those classes, I entered the "mainstream"
when I was invited to present my information to a group of doctors
at Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital in 1976.
Though they were skeptical at first, I was eventually able to
grab these physicians' interest by having them actually try the
technique on themselves. And by the end of the workshop, the place
was practically buzzing with excitement and questions.
The key: Hands-on participation -- not just dry information!(Certified
G-Jo Instructors, please take note ...)
Encouraged by that small success with "ordinary people" (not
the hippies and New Age thinkers who usually came to my early
workshops), I went on to write a training manual on the subject.
It was something far beyond the hand-written reference workbook
and index cards I'd been keeping ... and it became "The G-Jo Handbook."
Finally, through a series of serendipitous events, this book
was first picked up by a major publishing house, then became a
"Psychology Today" Book Club Selection in 1978. Now it was truly
time for me to bring acupressure to the suffering world!
But how?
The typical way authors promote books is through the media --
particularly, by way of radio and TV talk shows. OK, no problem
-- I'd never been accused of shyness. Anyway, how hard could it
be to talk to a camera or microphone instead of to the dozen,
or so, faces that usually attended my workshops?
But I had learned that if I were merely to DISCUSS acupressure
-- what it was ... how it worked ... some of its history, blah,
blah, blah -- I'd only be met with yawns, again, just the way
the doctors had at first responded. Or worse: Most of my audience
would simply "vote with their feet" and switch to another channel
or station!
Of course, TV was a perfect place to "show & tell" what I taught
... but that presented several problems. EVERY author wants to
be on TV, so I'd have a ton of competition.
Alright -- I could deal with that. But even if I WERE lucky enough
to get onto a big TV show (which I eventually did, dozens of times),
I'd only have a few minutes at most to tell my tale.
I certainly couldn't do either the technique or the audience
justice with only three or four minutes of broadcast exposure.
So that left radio. In my research, I had learned that most radio
talk show hosts wanted and expected guests who could fill at least
an hour of air-time with interesting chatter. That was a big plus
for me, since I could take HOURS just to explain the theories
behind acupressure, if someone would let me babble on long enough.
But with radio, "show & tell" was almost impossible -- or was
it? Through words, alone, could I actually lead people to just
the right spots on their own bodies, time after time? And could
I do it live -- with phone-in sufferers calling from their homes
-- without any "rehearsal," at all, as talk show hosts would expect?
What an outrageous concept!
Some men fantasize about erotic encounters with beautiful women.
But I found myself fantasizing about phone-in callers getting
dramatic healing results, practically shouting "hallelujah!" into
their telephones as they experienced joyful relief!
Or would my "radio healing" idea backfire, leaving me with still-suffering
callers and the egg of embarrassment plastered all over my face?
I had no idea.
But what a challenge: To become a "media healer" and relieve
the suffering of millions -- either way, win or lose, I could
feel it becoming my "calling"!
To be continued ...

TESTIMONIAL DU JOUR:
"I've used G-Jo for a number of cures on myself
and others, including shingles on my 97-year old uncle who had
been applying medication patches on his back for over a year.
It all disappeared in 3 days with point #114. His swollen feet
also returned to normal in that same period, using only that point.
Even I was amazed." P.K., Chicopee, MA

In any event, be sure to read about the disturbing
anti-protester events that recently took place in Sacramento,
when some 3-4,000 non-violent biotech critics crossed paths with
nearly 1,000 Darth Vader-like, heavily-armed police troops.
The leading culprits in the GE and GMO (genetically
modified organisms) issue include: Syngenta ... DuPont ... Bayer
... Dow ... and especially Monsanto (whose seeds account for more
than 90% of all global Frankencrops!)
... The most affected crops: Soybeans (an ingredient
in countless food products) ... corn (the primary source of high
fructose sweeteners and many other products) ... canola (the most
popular cooking oil) ... and cotton (the leading source of agricultural
pollution)
... Bottom line: Just shout "NO!" to GE
foods and all they represent. Instead, buy organic.

NEW FEATURE!
FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions):
Q: Why and how does G-Jo
Acupressure heal all sorts of health problems?
A: Correction: NO self-health
technique -- or even any medicine -- does the actual "healing."
It is the body-&-mind (or "bodymind"), and ONLY the bodymind,
which heals itself.
G-Jo only STIMULATES and ACCELERATES self-healing. In fact,
there are many means to stimulate this wondrous self-healing power
which lies in all of us. But G-Jo is one of the fastest and most
effective ways ... as well as being completely safe, natural and
free to use!
It has been our purpose and goal at The G-Jo Institute to find
and share some of the easiest, yet most effective of these many
time-proven methods.
If you have a question about the self-health techniques The G-Jo
Institute teaches or offers, please feel free to contact us, care

AN INTRODUCTION TO YOUR
G-JO POINTS:
G-JO POINT NUMBER 6
ORGAN(S) THIS POINT AFFECTS: Small intestine
ACTION THIS POINT PRODUCES: Balancing.
MERIDIAN POINT NUMBER: Vessel of Conception
4 or 6 (VC-4/6 or IXV 4/6)
CHINESE NAME: "Origin Pass" (or "Great Sea"
or many, many others, if VC-4); or "Sea of Qi" (or "Small Navel"
or several others, if VC-6 -- these translations are taken from
"Grasping The Wind," by Andrew Ellis, Nigel Wiseman and Kenn Boss;
Paradigm Publications)
LOCATION: The width of one hand below, and
in line with, the navel. The other point is found the width of
one to two thumbs directly beneath the first site, either of which
may produce similar benefits.
USES: This point has at least 28 Basic G-Jo
uses, one of which is the relief from certain bowel problems,
such as constipation or diarrhea.
INSTRUCTIONS: To find this point upon yourself,
first read the instructions. Then, using the TIP of the thumb,
the bent knuckle of the index (or pointer) finger -- even the
eraser tip of a pencil -- begin pressing the approximate location
upon your lower abdomen.
Use deep pressure -- up to 15 or 20 lbs.
might be needed to both to find and "trigger" some G-Jo points.
The point itself, once contacted, will feel like a toothache or
pinched nerve -- definitely more tender than the surrounding flesh.
Finally, trigger (deeply massage) this spot in a
digging, goading way for a few seconds. Again, it should feel
a bit painful. For more complete instructions plus illustrated
examples of six important G-Jo points, go to www.g-jo.com/points.html
and take our free "Mini Crash-Course in G-Jo Acupressure."
G-Jo Point #6, and nearly 200 others, are fully

A WAY OF EATING FOR PLEASURE
AND HEALTH: Each issue, we present a wholesome, nutritious
recipe which our family, friends and guests have enjoyed over
the years at both Falkynor Farm, and more recently, here, at DeerHaven
Hills Farm & Yoga Eco-Center. Here is an easy, wholesome yet rather
unusual breakfast dish (or complement for many Asian meals) and
a great way to use leftover rice:
DATE RICE
3 cups cooked brown rice (about 1 cup uncooked)
1/3 cup finely chopped dates
1/3 cup raisins or currants (optional)
1/3 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Salt, cinnamon and butter/soy margarine to taste
Rice milk (vanilla flavored is delicious), coconut milk or almond
milk to desired consistency
Warm the rice; add the remaining ingredients and
heat through and serve. Makes about 4 cups.

KNOW YOUR ORGANS:
THE HEART
Normally, in each issue, we discuss the organ relating
to the featured G-Jo Acupressure point. However, G-Jo Point Number
6 is found along the so-called "Vessel of Conception" meridian.
This is the energy channel which runs from the perineum
(between the rectum and sex organ) to the root of the tongue,
along the frontal center line of the body. As such, it is not
related to any, specific organ or gland.
So instead, we begin our discussion of the "king
of organs," the heart. If we think of the bodymind as a vehicle,
much like an automobile for making a vital journey, each husband-and-wife
organ team would play a specific role in reaching the destination.
The heart -- and its wife, the small intestine (which
is balanced by G-Jo Point Number 6) -- are the equivalent of the
car's motor and its fuel tank. They are the home of so-called
"vital energy" and "spirit."
This is not to say that the heart is the source
of bioenergy. According to the acupuncture theory of health --
the basis of G-Jo Acupressure -- the human being is surrounded
by an "aura" or electromagnetic field of energy.
This aura, or energy field (which can actually be
observed by eye after special training, as well as mechanically,
through a process known as Kirlian photography), is said to feed
the inner organs. This is accomplished via the body's meridians
or energy channels; allowing the organs and glands to function.
The aura, in turn, is said to be nourished by an
even more subtle aspect of the same energy from the Universe,
which manifests itself in the form of "consciousness" (or sometimes
thought of as "God's blood"). Spiritually, consciousness is said
to be eternal, and is what makes us each an immortal being, according
to the science of yoga.
The heart and its mate are the natural home within
the bodymind -- like a reservoir and storage area -- for the vital
force of existence that is "pumped in" from the aura. The process
seems to be much like a solar energy cell that works on the principal
of converting light to energy. In that illustration, the heart
might be thought to act like a storage battery for the converted
energy.
To be continued ...
All the body's major organs and glands, along with their many
functions, are completely described in the Advanced G-Jo section
of "The Master of G-Jo Acupressure Home-Study Certification Program."
